Refunds and cancellations

Drafting is free. This page explains government charges and how refunds will work for any paid service.

Draft: Chaabi hasn't launched yet. This document will be reviewed by a lawyer before launch, and we'll update it if anything changes.

1. What's free

Drafting your rental agreement and your first download are free. Our tools (rent receipts, the HRA and stamp duty calculators, and the sample formats) are free. There is nothing to refund for these.

2. Government charges

Stamp duty and registration fees are charges set by the state government. Where we help you pay them, we pass the money on at actual cost and show the exact amount before you pay.

Once an e-stamp certificate has been issued, it can't be cancelled through Chaabi. Refunds of unused stamp duty are governed by state rules and time limits; where a refund is allowed, we'll help you apply. If we take a payment but the e-stamp isn't issued, we refund the full amount.

3. Paid services

Chaabi doesn't charge for anything yet. If we introduce a paid service, such as a fresh copy of a finalised agreement:

  • The price is shown clearly before you pay.
  • If a technical problem on our side stops you getting what you paid for, we refund you in full.
  • If you're charged twice for the same thing, we refund the duplicate in full.
  • Once a paid document has been generated and downloaded, it can't be cancelled, except in the cases above.

4. How to ask for a refund

Write to hello@getchaabi.com with “Refund” in the subject within 7 days of the payment, with the payment reference and the agreement reference (CHB-…) if there is one. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 7 working days. See also our grievance process.
