1. Who we are

Chaabi (getchaabi.com) is a rental agreement service being built in Bengaluru, India, by its founder, Shivank Mathur, ahead of company incorporation. For anything about your data, write to hello@getchaabi.com. We act as the data fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What we collect and why

• Waitlist: name, mobile number, optional email, city, whether you're a tenant or landlord, and a record of the consent you gave (the wording version and time). Used only to contact you about Chaabi's launch and your rental agreement, as the consent box says.
• Sign-in: your email address, used to send sign-in links and keep you signed in.
• Agreements (from launch): once you download your agreement, we don't keep a copy of its details. That's why generating it again costs a small fee: you'd be starting a fresh draft.
• Abuse prevention: when you submit a form we store a scrambled code derived from your internet address (never the address itself) to limit repeated submissions.
• Free tools: the rent receipt generator, HRA calculator and stamp duty calculator run in your browser. What you type into them is not sent to us. If you tick “Remember my details”, they are saved only in your own browser.

3. What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent personal data.
• We don't share your details with partners unless you ask us to, at that moment, naming the partner.
• We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site.

4. Who processes data for us

• Supabase stores the waitlist and sign-in data, hosted in Mumbai, India.
• Vercel hosts the website and runs our server code, in Mumbai, India.
• Sign-in emails are sent through our email provider.

5. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to opt out of.

6. How long we keep data

• Waitlist details: until Chaabi launches in your city and for up to 12 months after, or until you ask us to delete them.
• Account email: while you have an account, and deleted when you ask us to close it.
• Abuse-prevention codes: only as long as needed to prevent repeated submissions.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to hello@getchaabi.com. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. We aim to reply within 7 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Changes

If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and, where the change matters, ask for your consent again.
